Costuming tribulations... A dollmaking project may plod through its phases, depending on how fully you've thought it through before touching a single tool. Here, I started with a minimum of planning: A figure for conversion to a specific body type (heavy bottomed); next, the head sculpt, which prompted revisions to the body type (heavy topped-- really, really heavy topped); preliminary costuming experiments; additional costuming experiments; and finally (and I'm not there yet), finishing the figure, dressing the doll and calling it "done".
Costuming this one has been difficult, since I didn't start with a clue.
Trial and error. The first costuming experiments captured aspects that
I found interesting-- a corseted look and a gown which emphasized her
lusty fullness. Neither fit within the fantasy Brass Bras genre though,
and both were pitifully simple efforts. I prefer that there to be at least
a few interesting things involved with the construction, even if
the result looks "been-there-done-that" (which is kinda unavoidable after
a while). The Barsoomian wired bra thing works across fantasy genres and
offers ample opportunity for detailing, despite the ratio of outfit to
skin... and for in-your-face lewdness, it's a ratio in total harmony with
this figure's abundant flesh.
